Simple Kitchen Remodeling Ideas for a Tight Budget

May 8, 2013

Kitchen Remodeling It's easy to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so it's important to make sure it looks nice. Unfortunately, a full kitchen remodel can be expensive and time consuming if you make plans to do it yourself. Getting new appliances or redoing cabinetry gets very pricey very quickly.

At Tap-Roots Plumbing & Heating, we know that many homeowners on a tight budget can't afford a full home remodel. Instead, we'd like to offer some of our favorite simple, inexpensive home remodeling ideas. These techniques can give you a whole new look to your kitchen at minimum expense.

1. Replacing the lighting.

The incandescent bulbs most homes have use more energy and give less light than halogen bulbs. If you're looking to do some home improvement on a budget, updating the lighting can make a big difference.

2. Giving the place a fresh coat of paint.

This can take a little while, but it is definitely the cheapest way to give your kitchen a whole new look. When you're choosing your supplies, look for a semigloss latex paint. It's easier to clean after it's dried—a must-have for a room like the kitchen, where spills and splatters are inevitable.

3. Updating your faucets.

New faucets are generally not very expensive, and swapping out the old for the new is an easy job for any Richmond plumber. Consider spending a little bit extra and getting newer, water-saving faucets. You'll pay a little bit more upfront on your new kitchen plumbing, but you'll make it back very quickly with the savings on your water bills.

4. Organizing.

Splurge on some helpful drawer organizers, pot racks, or lid holders, and go on a spree to organize or re-organize your kitchen. It's a great way to add some new eye-catching, yet practical, accessories to the room.

5. Get Started!

You'd be surprised how much of a difference you can make with just a few changes like this. Your kitchen can look and feel brand new at just a fraction of the cost. If you have any questions about new kitchen plumbing installation, you can contact Tap-Roots Plumbing & Heating at 604-222-1282 for their expertise.
